Standard Block Production
The fixed wall block form machine uses a permanently defined mold cavity to produce EPS blocks of a single, consistent dimension. The cavity walls, back plate, and lid are fabricated from perforated stainless steel backed by a steam chest. During each cycle, pre-expanded beads are pneumatically fed into the cavity, steam is injected through the perforated walls to fuse the beads, and the finished block is cooled under vacuum before the lid opens and the block is ejected.
Because the cavity geometry does not change between cycles, the fixed wall design allows for tighter mechanical tolerances and simpler hydraulic systems compared to movable wall alternatives. This results in lower maintenance requirements and higher uptime over the machine’s service life.
Dimensional Standards
Fixed wall machines are manufactured to match regional block size standards. European configurations typically use a 4000 x 1200 x 1000 mm cavity. US configurations produce blocks of 16 ft x 4 ft x 3 ft or 8 ft x 4 ft x 3 ft. Each machine is built to a single cavity size; changing the block dimension requires replacing mold components.
Cutting Line Compatibility
The fixed, known output dimension simplifies integration with downstream cutting equipment. Horizontal wire cutters, vertical wire cutters, and CNC contour cutting machines can all be configured to match the fixed block size, eliminating the need for repositioning or dimensional recalibration between batches.
Material Flexibility
Fixed wall machines accept both 100% virgin EPS beads and blended material containing up to 50% recycled EPS scrap (ground and mixed via an upstream mixing unit). The steam fusion process performs identically with blended material, provided the scrap is properly ground and uniformly distributed during filling.

Typical Applications
Operations that produce one block size in high volume (such as insulation board manufacturers or packaging block producers) benefit most from the fixed wall configuration. The machine’s simplicity, reliability, and lower capital cost make it the standard choice when dimensional flexibility is not a production requirement.
